HCG is a hormone that women produce during pregnancy. The proper name of this hormone is human chorionic gonadotropin and it serves to metabolize fat early on in pregnancy to compensate for the lack of calories a woman may consume before they realize they are pregnant.

An endocrinologist named Dr. Simeons observed that even women who were thin and even underweight were giving birth to children of normal size. He concluded that the hcg helped keep the baby nourished through the use of fat stores.

Following this theory he created the hcg diet protocol which is a very low calorie diet when combined with HCG SHOTS help the dieter lose weight, retain more muscle and keeps them from feeling extremely hungry.

There have been numerous studies that can be as old as 20 or 30 years which claim there is little difference in weight loss between groups using hcg and groups using a placebo. This is factually accurate but what these studies fail to mention is that muscle retention is actually much higher in groups using hcg.

This is significant because 1st muscle weighs more than fat so if both lost the same amount of weight then it stands to reason that the group that kept more muscle lost more fat. Another critical point is that those who carry more muscle continue to burn more daily calories even at rest. This finding would suggest that those following the diet and shot program correctly would have an easier time keeping the weight off after the 30 day cycle.
